Where the Wild Things Are - Maurice Sendak

Rating: 10/10

I am just a huge Maurice Sendak fan, and this has to be my favorite of his. It's funny, there's an enjoyable plot, it wraps up nicely. The art has this amazing, creepy, un-sanitized feeling to it that you can't imagine ever getting published today because it'd frighten the children (good! they should be scared! It's fun to be frightened sometimes!). And the words are written in a way that just flows off the tongue and sounds so good - you don't get to say that about children's books very often.
